Welcome to The Fat Pig at Chequerbent

A Heritage Inn British Restaurant in the small town of Westhoughton, situated at Chequerbent roundabout on the A6. The building is over 140 years old and a former police station, it most definitely seen many a lovable rogue in its cells. Throughout the large scale refurbishment, we retained the historic features of the building with the original fireplaces and parquet flooring, yet adapted it into a cosy and welcoming modern restaurant.

The Fat Pig has a ‘casual yet premium feel’ with informal drinking and dining areas on the ground floor, incorporating themes of local Lancashire history and the sites former incarnation as a county police station, then with more formal dining room and restaurant on the first floor.

We believe in producing excellent quality food using fresh and locally sourced ingredients. We rear our own rare breed pigs in Belmont, Bolton-hence the restaurant name choice. Our signature of premium pork from the farm to fork. The Fat Pig has a vast selection of cask ales, wines and cocktails. Families are always welcome at The Fat Pig and we have a wonderful “Little Piggies” menu.

We’re proud to be a Great British institution and we’re excited to be opening our doors to the people of Westhoughton and beyond…
